คือ รูปแบบการติดต่อสื่อสารระหว่าง device กับ device ชนิดหนึ่ง เช่นแต่ก่อนเรามี PLC ขนาด 100 I/O ถ้า I/O อยู่ห่างจากตัว PLC 100 เมตร เราต้องสายไฟทั้งหมด 100*100 = 10,000 เมตร แต่ถ้าเราใช้ระบบ CC-Link เรามี PLC+CC link เราเดินสาย4 เส้น( ไม่แน่ใจว่า 4 เส้นหรือไม่) ไปปลายทางที่ ตัว I/O ที่เป็นแบบ CC-Link ได้เลย ดังนั้นเราใช้สายน้อยกว่า แต่ ตัวI/O แบบ CC-Link ราคาสูงกว่า I/Oแบบธรรมดา ดังนั้นต้องชั่งน้ำหนักดูว่า ลดต้นทุนสายลงกับราคาตัวI/Oที่เพิ่มขึ้น จุดคุ้มทุนอยู่ที่ตรงไหน
